School Profile

Dunn Elementary School, a National PTA School of Excellence, has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence. All students are challenged to develop their talents and strengths in a positive and nurturing environment. Dunn is a Health Promotion School of Excellence, where health and fitness education are an integral part of the curriculum. Our ten-acre site includes a fitness walking trail and state-of-the-art playground equipment designed to foster flexibility and strength. Spanish instruction is offered to all students in kindergarten through grade five. Computer technology is an important part of classroom instruction, and our school has a fully equipped, up-to-date lab where students receive technology instruction. Monitored-Internet access is available in all classrooms as well as the lab. Students have an opportunity to participate in the Student Technology Leadership Program and WDUN daily live newscasts. Additionally, students at Dunn can participate in Safety Patrol, Student Council, academic competitions, band, and orchestra during the school day. Extracurricular activities include Academic Teams (Quick Recall, Problem Solving and Written Knowledge), Chess Club, basketball, cheerleading, and Scouting programs. Dunn offers the Advance Program, Extended School-Services (ESS), and before- and after-school services through the YMCA Childcare Enrichment Program. Dunn is a School-Based Decision Making school where parents and faculty work together to ensure the success of every student.
