A Message From Our Counselor

Welcome to Blake Elementary School! My philosophy as the school guidance counselor is that providing a safe environment for students will help them develop the skills and self-confidence to succeed as leaders in the twenty-first century. My goal is for all students at Blake Elementary to believe in themselves and develop School “PRIDE” through Personal Responsibility in Daily Effort.

If I can be of assistance to your child, you, or your family, please feel free to call me at any time. I consider it a privilege and honor to be your child’s guidance counselor. Let me take this time to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to play an important role in the life of your child. JCPS counselors, in partnership with students, families, staff, the community, and businesses, will prepare students to be successful lifelong learners. The kindergarten through grade-twelve comprehensive guidance program will provide teaching and modeling strategies that create and nurture a safe and positive teaching environment.

Our Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program provides the skills necessary for academic success, career planning, and personal and social growth.

What is the best way to talk with my child's counselor?

Parents should set up an appointment to see their child's counselor by phone, e-mail, fax, or letter.

What is the best way for my child to talk with his or her counselor?

The best way is for students to make an appointment with clerical staff and the counselor through the Counseling Office. If it is an emergency, the student should contact a teacher or the general office staff immediately and let them know of his or her need to see the counselor.
