Sports
Students who participate in sports must keep up their grades and behavior to stay on their teams. Parents and students receive a packet of information at the beginning of each season with details of requirements. For a listing of practice and games dates/times, please see the school's online calendar.
Basketball
Third, fourth and fifth grade boys and girls are invited to try-out each season for the Thundercat Basketball Team. Our basketball team participates in the Southwest Basketball League. All games are held at Conway Middle School, 3400 Lees Lane. Admission: $2-- Adults, $1--12 and under, and under 5 is Free.
West teams: Kennedy, Brandeis, Carter, Crums Lane, Young, Maupin
South teams: Medora, Jacob, Trunnell, Shacklette, Wellington, Sanders

Volleyball
In the fall, third, fourth and fifth grade students try-out for the Thundercat Volleyball Team. Practices are weekly and games are held at Hazelwood Elementary. Our team competes in the Metro Parks Jefferson County Elementary Volleyball League.

Cheerleading
Rah! Rah! Rah! If you love to yell and scream, to jump around to music,and to have a great time making new friends, try out for the Whitney Young Cheerleading Squad.
To be a member of the cheerleading squad, you must be a third, fourth, or fifth grader. At the beginning of the school year, there are two days for practice/camp and then a day to try out for the squad. The cheerleaders cheer at all basketball games, and they perform at various competitions throughout the year. Students must keep up with their grades and behavior to stay on the squad.
