Orff Ensemble
The Orff Ensemble at Whitney Young is comprised of 3rd and 4th grade students. Each grade meets once a week during school with music teacher, Ms. Fassio, and art teacher, Ms. Larson, to learn recorders, singing, movement, and Orff percussion instruments. Once all the parts are learned, the students will play all together in the full ensemble. This semester the song that they are learning is Hop and Old Squirrel. At the end of the year, each student will have experience playing every instrument, singing, and performing the movement parts. There will then be opportunities for exceptional players and singers to perform in Jefferson County's All-County Orff Ensemble in April. The All-County Orff Ensemble is comprised of exceptional students from schools throughout Jefferson County.

Band & Orchestra
Band or Orchestra classes are offered to students in Grade 5. Students meet weekly with a music teacher during school to practice the instrument of their choice. Student who participate must be committed to outside practice and responsible for the care of their instruments.
