Mission Statement

Phillis Wheatley Elementary School is a caring community where diversity is respected, nurtured and encouraged. The staff believes that to be successful learners students must be actively engaged in an enriched environment that integrates all of our core content areas throughout our curriculum. Our philosophy addresses the total student and reflects this by seeking to create an environment where academic excellence, family involvement and positive social development are fostered. Student success is accelerated by building on children's strengths and providing hands-on experiences to promote higher level thinking skills which enable the student to connect school experiences to the real world.
