Physical Education

Tully's physical education program addresses health-related and skill related components that promote lifetime physical activity. Students acquire skills, fitness, knowledge and attitudes toward their physical well-being. Good sportsmanship and quality social interaction skills are also stressed. In the primary grades the main focus is assisting the development of children's motor and fitness skills. During the intermediate grades, the main focus is to continue with the development and refinement of motor skills and applying them in various games and other physical activities. Also at this level, importance is put on attitudes toward lifetime physical fitness and its benefits.

Tully is a member of "Tap Into Fitness." This program is sponsored by the Louisville Water Co. and Heuser Clinic. The program encourages students to make healthy choices. To learn more you may want to check out the Heuser website and view some of the podcast. www.heuserclinic.com/video.htm

Whistle Cross-Country Team

Tully also offers a cross-country team that meets twice a week after school during the track season. The team consists of third, fourth and fifth graders who compete approximately five meets a year across Jefferson County. Tully students can also compete in the annual cluster track meet that takes place at a local high school in the county. At this meet, students have the opportunity to compete in running events, jumping rope, throwing Frisbees, sack races and the long jump.
