School Profile

The staff at St. Matthews Elementary is committed to providing a challenging and engaging learning environment where every student will acquire the fundamental academic and life skills necessary for success in the classroom, workplace, and community.  This mission commits our school to educate each student to the highest academic standards. To fulfill this mission, our school offers an outstanding instructional program which includes the following components.  The Primary Program encompasses the first four years of students' education where they will receive instruction at their own academic level.  The Primary Talent Pool serves students who demonstrate exceptional academic talents.  The Advance Program serves students who demonstrate exceptional academic talents.  The Advance Program serves students in the fourth and fifth grade who are formally identified and participate in an enriched curriculum.  The Intermediate Program encompasses fourth and fifth grades.  All students receive French instruction.  Extended School Services serve students who need additional academic support.  The Exceptional Child Education Program serves students who have special needs in the area of learning disabilities, behavior, and other exceptionalities.  Since the CATS Testing System has begun, St. Matthews has always exceeded its goals and has been a school in rewards (nine years).  St. Matthews Elementary has created a safe and nurturing environment coupled with high academic expectations.  We provide meaningful opportunities for parental involvement through SBDM, PTA, and the classroom.
