Klondike Lane Elementary introduced the Student Technology Leadership Program in 2003 for fourth and fifth grade students. The mission of STLP is to advance individual capabilities, to motivate all students, and to create leadership opportunities through the use of technology.
Klondike has a computer lab equipped with 30 Hewlett Packard computers. Each classroom is equipped with 3 to 4 computers. Teachers integrate technology into their curriculum as much as possible. Klondike students are learning to research topics on the internet, type reports and portfolios using word processing, make spreadsheets and use database to organize information.
We have approximately 16 Student Technology Leaders at Klondike. The STL's are responsible for cleaning all computers in the building and to help students and teachers solve minor problems. STL's are also responsible for using digital cameras for pictures and camcorders to video school programs, class projects and the Principal's Book of the Month.
