Kennedy Family Resource Center (FRC)

What are we?
Family Resource Centers are designed to help remove barriers to student learning. Each Center assists students and families through programs, referrals to outside agencies and by partnering with groups within and outside of the school. Programs and services are determined by the needs of the population served, available resources, location and other local characteristics. The Centers work with families to improve students’ attendance, to decrease problems with behavior or suspensions, to offer academic support, to deal with mental / physical health issues and to offer parent support and assistance. All students and families are served regardless of income.

1. Where can I find tutoring?
   Kennedy offers a variety of tutoring programs including daytime ESS. You may call the FRC Center for more information.
   
   
2. Are there any before or after school or summer programs?
   The YMCA participates on site at Kennedy for the before/after school Child Enrichment Program (CEP). You may pick up an application at our school or visit any of your local YMCA's.
   
   
3. How can I receive information regarding school uniforms or other clothing, financial assistance for rent, utilities, etc…?
   Kennedy is a non-uniform school. If you need assistance with school supplies or clothing, you may call and speak with our FRC.
   
   
4. How can I apply for FREE/reduced lunch and fee waiver?
   You must apply for FREE/reduced lunch every year. Make sure the school has your correct address. The form will be mailed to your home during the summer for you to complete and return. If you need help with this, please contact your FRC Coordinator.
   
   
5. How can I volunteer at the school?
   Call the school office or the FRC office. The PTA also welcomes volunteers. Each volunteer is required to complete a volunteer records check form to be submitted to the board for approval.
   
   
6. How do I get GED or job training for myself?
   You may contact your FRC Coordinator or call Adult Education, at 485-3400.
   
   
7. How do I get information on medical insurance, immunizations or physicals? (Remember kindergarten students need an eye exam, a physical and immunizations and student moving to 6th grade must have a physical and immunizations.)

8. Are there activities for families at the school?
   These activities will vary from school to school depending on the needs and the resources available. Watch for information in newsletter and flyers.
