School Profile

Built in 1967, Johnsontown Road Elementary School is located in southwestern Jefferson County at the intersection of Johnsontown and Lower River Roads. Families tell us our positive School climate and proven record of academic success are our biggest assets. Johnsontown offers pre school classes in addition to grades K through 5. Our school also offers exceptional education services and primary tutoring for students with special needs. Extended school services support active learning outside of the school day for qualified students. All boys and girls may participate in before and after school and summer recreational programs. Last year Johnsontown Road staff wrote and was awarded a new and exciting federally funded reading grant. Our school has been involved in an opportunity to invest in materials, programs, and staff to improve our student’s reading achievement through a federal funded grant known as Reading First. We are one of nine schools that were awarded the Reading First Grant for kindergarten through third grade in Jefferson County. We keep up with the lastest technology with 5th grade teachers involved in a program known as the Technology Integration Program.
