Families First Family Resource
Center
The Family Resource Center was first funded in July of 2001. It is a
state funded grant that was created as part of the 1990 Kentucky
Education Reform Act. The center is designed to assist in removing
barriers that prevent children from learning and to provide services to
help students succeed in school. This is accomplished by linking
families to agencies in the community or by providing community
services at the center. The center is a joint venture between Field and
Bates Elementary.
The FRC is staffed with a full time Coordinator, Frances Royster. It is
overseen by an Advisory Council made up of parents/caregivers,
community members and school staff. The council meets every other month
and all meetings are open. The council is always looking for additional
members so please contact the center if you are interested in being
involved.
Some of the services provided by the Family Resource Center are:
* Health Services & Referrals
* In-house counseling services
* Programs for new and expectant parents
* Support and training for child-care providers
* Referals for before & after school child-care
* Assistance with adult education / parent workshops
* Holiday Assistance Referrals
