The elementary school years are a very important developmental time for your child. In addition to academic fundamentals, students are learning communication and social skills, developing friendships, and practicing conflict resolution.

Your child's school counselor is an invaluable asset during this time. Counselors serve as guides and mentors who work with students to develop healthy social skills and to teach peaceful conflict-resolution methods. Counselors are specially trained to provide individual and group counseling. Also, counselors keep students thinking and planning for their exciting futures in middle and high school--and beyond.
