The district literacy program, Rigby, is implemented at Bates along with a supplemental Math Investigations program. Science modules are used to engage our students in learning science with hands on material. The Arts and Humanities Program, Practical Living, and Vocational Studies, and our Fitness Program have proven to be the best around.

The school has an extremely helpful Family Resource Center that offers assistance to families in a variety of ways. Families have fun attending our Family Literacy Nights, our Family Fun Activities, and the numerous programs that demonstrate our school's many talents.

The grounds of our 13 acre campus have been improved by the PTA and Environmental Club's efforts. We now have a beautiful walking trail and new playground. Also, Bates has developed partnerships with such organizations as the extremely supportive Cedar Creek Baptist Church, the Fern Creek Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Louisville Metro Police Department's Safety City which is located right here on our grounds.

In conclusion, Bates is a special place where each child's talents and skills are nurtured and magnified. Parents are viewed as partners in their child's education and everyone is committed to excellence.
