Spanish I A (42419111)
Beginning Spanish (level 1) is an introduction to the language and cultures of the Spanish world. The course emphasizes the student's initial development of the interpersonal, interpretive and presentational modes of communication and an understanding of other people's world views, their way of life and their patterns of behavior.

Beginning Spanish (level 1) is an introduction to the language and cultures of the Spanish world. The course emphasizes the student's initial development of the interpersonal, interpretive and presentational modes of communication and an understanding of other people's world views, their way of life and their patterns of behavior.

Spanish II A (42419211)
Developing Spanish (level II) is a part of the continuing sequence of study begun in the Beginning Spanish. The course offers students opportunities to improve in the three modes of communicating in Spanish and increase their knowledge and understanding of the relationship of cultural products, practices ;and perspectives of the Spanish-speaking world.

Spanish II B (42419212)
Developing Spanish (level II) is a part of the continuing sequence of study begun in the Beginning Spanish. The course offers students opportunities to improve in the three modes of communicating in Spanish and increase their knowledge and understanding of the relationship of cultural products, practices ;and perspectives of the Spanish-speaking world.

Spanish III A (42419311)
Spanish III reviews and expands the basic linguistic concepts mastered in Spanish I and II. The course emphasizes the study of grammar, selected pieces of Spanish literature, the development of conversational skills, and the development of writing proficiency. As it reviews and presents the new grammar elements, it continues to do this in a contextual inter-related setting.

This course will also continue to use the communicative interactive approach. Receptive skills receive additional emphasis and culture becomes the centerpiece of instruction as the student advances and expands his/her knowledge in the language.

The student will be able to:

  1. Understand, speak, and write Spanish in sentence-length utterances consisting of learned material.
  2. Participate in complex conversations that have more than one idea or concept.
  3. Understand and relate instructions, directions, and commands on familiar subjects.
  4. Read and comprehend authentic and historical features of Spain, Mexico, and Latin America.
  5. Read and comprehend authentic text.
  6. Be exposed to and develop an appreciation of the Hispanic world.
