Health Screenings

School districts in Kentucky are required to develop a plan to administer various screenings per regulation (704 KAR 4:020).  The screenings include vision, hearing and scoliosis. In order to comply with State regulations and to help assist parents with their child’s health, Jefferson County Public Schools Health Services staff administers vision, hearing and scoliosis screenings every school year to meet the state health regulations.  The screenings are conducted by our Health Services staff (LPN’s, RN’s and ARNP’s).  In order to facilitate an organized screening day, contact will be made before your scheduled screening to provide information for our department regarding students, parental consent, volunteers, area for screenings, etc.  Vision and hearing screenings require obtaining a passive permission form and scoliosis requires a signed active permission form.  We are required to notify parents if a child fails a screening or could not be tested for some reason.
